And of Course, Eating the Cake!

In my family my Grandma always makes fun themed cakes for everyone's birthdays, so I thought it would be fun to make Logan a special cake for his first birthday! Josh and I made the cake together (with some supervision from my parents and some borrowed pans from Josh's parents). We spent a lot of time on it and decided next time we should choose a simpler cake! It was a lot of fun and I love the saying that it is more about the process than the product. I also enjoy working together on projects with Josh!

Josh blew out the candle and Logan just looked at him, I don't think he quite understood the tradition yet!

We got the idea from a website I found called Coolest-Birthday-Cakes (which I know my grandma would love), but we decorated the whole cake ourselves.

We gave Logan the caboose as his very own cake and I was very surprised that he didn't get as dirty as I thought he would, maybe because I let him get messy 3 times a day when he eats! He picked at the cake a little and tried to put some of the pieces back on the cake that he took off. I don't think he every put both hands on the cake.

He also was watching everyone that was at the house. He loves to watch people, and sometimes doesn't pay attention to what he is doing when there are a lot of people around.

[Bloated] "I am not used to eating this much sugar."

This is Logan at the very end (before wiping him down). He really didn't get very messy. We didn't even put a bib on him, and that is the extent of his messiness. I expected him to smear it all around like most kids do, but he didn't! I never know what to expect from him.

I grabbed this video in the middle of his cake experience. It is pretty shaky, because I was talking to him the whole time, but still fun to watch.

Very, very cool cake! I was thinking "woah they made that!" What's all of this crap about "the process and not the product". The product looked absolutely amazing, but thanks for trying to play it down to make the rest of us feel better ;).

A Couple of Updates

I haven't been very involved in the online world very much in the recent months. I haven't been feeling very well. I had mostly rejoined the feeling-better society and getting excited for the ultrasound which we had yesterday on January 15th. Yes, I am Pregnant!!! 20 weeks to be exact and I had gone to 4 doctors appointments and heard the heartbeat several times. Josh and I went to the ultrasound anxious to find out the gender, because we are planners of course. I got situated and the person doing the ultrasound put the wand on my belly and I looked up at the monitor and saw two circles. (I wish we had a picture of that, but we don't have that exact one) In my mind I said, "that is two heads." She said, "Oh, did you guys know you were having twins?" Josh turned, because he had not seen the two heads on the monitor yet and said, "Uh, no". And she said, "Well, you are!" Surprise. A few moments later we found out it was two girls. Wowza.

Josh Had a Birthday, Shout Hooray!

I am so lucky to have these two guys in my life! I hope you had a good birthday yesterday, Josh!

1st Half-Birthday

Logan sits up all by himself now, but he uses his hands like a little tripod for support. He is also able to roll from his back to his stomach, but he really doesn't like his stomach, so he has probably only rolled that way less than 10 times. Mostly when we tease him with toys or other such things. He is really laid back and happy and I just keep thinking I am the luckiest mom in the world! So Logan turned 6 months old on Sunday. The only real "celebration" we had was feeding him cereal for the first time. We did go to the park, but it took us too long to get ready, so on the stroller-ride over he fell asleep. Josh and I had a little picnic anyway. He did go to the Doctor yesterday and Dr. Clayton said he is doing just great. He said Logan is teething, which I thought, but still no teeth have poked up. He got his shots and he doesn't have to get anymore until his is one year! I was, of course, concerned about his weight gain, but Dr. Clayton told me not to w
