Thoughts on Motherhood

As I was going through the years of caring for 3 small children at home all day I knew I would one day miss it. I knew it would go by too fast. But when I was in the thick of it, I couldn't possibly see beyond the day to day. Yes, I knew that I loved my children and the bottom line was I loved being home with them. Reading, talking, playing, all the things I teach others to do with their children. If I could do it again, I would. I would stay home when they were little and do just what I did. Although it was the hardest thing I have ever done. Each stage of life has challenges. Everyone has differences and experiences that seem beyond possible to bear. I loved being home. My life right now is truly, the best it has ever been. I am the happiest I have ever been. I know there will come times that are harder. I hear talk of being the "sandwich generation" and teenagers and adult children. And that will bring its own experiences and challenges. I am still learning what ma

Hiking the "Y"

We hiked the "Y" for our stay-cation this week. It was hard, but it was so good. I love that Logan was able to carry Grayson in the hiking backpack. He pretty much carried him half the hike. He is such a good brother. He waited a long time to get a brother and he is amazing at helping with Grayson. I am forever blessed.

My Daily Happy. Today.

And Thanksgiving point passes. And the free summer lunch program. And summer. And legos.

3 Years

Here we are. The girls are 3 years old and I can hardly believe it. That is the crazy thing about being a mom. Seeing these ladies grow day by day makes it hard to tell how big they are. Whenever I happen to see a picture of them one or two years ago, I am blown away and how much they can do now, compared to before. I tend to focus on all the things they are getting into and how often they are fighting and not-so-much on the positives, but these ladies are truly amazing. I fill my pinterest quote board with sayings I find about "babies don't keep" and "sticky floors mean good experiences" and the like to keep my sanity semi-in-check. (It comes and goes) Truly sisters do make the best friends and I hope these ladies remain best friends the rest of eternity. They are so blessed to have each other.  When they are actually getting along :) I think about how nice it must be to have a constant playmate. They get along with other friends, but they get to have

Spring is Here!!!

The daffodils are in bloom! Yay! I have a few pictures from about 6 weeks ago, but I can't get my most recent pictures to show up on the blogger thing to put them on the post, so they will have to wait. The most exciting recent happening in our family is Mr. L learning to ride a bike with no training wheels. It was one of those mothering moments when time stood still and all the day to day things just didn't matter. He is growing up. He is a little man and he can ride a bike all by himself. Training wheel-less. It took 3 days. And he rides every spare minute he can. Especially those first few days. It is amazing. I love this weather!!! He had a birthday, which I will have to post some pics of :) Also, I was called as Assistant Camp Director, which I am super-excited about and I started teaching a Tuesday, Thursday Preschool class from a couple weeks ago until the end of May. I am thinking about teaching T/TH preschool in the fall. This is getting my feet wet to

These are the Days

Sometimes when my three children are sleeping I have these moments of tenderness that often can't be found during the crazy hectic day of mothering these three busy kids. Right now I am feeling that. Yes, it is tough. Yes, I get frustrated. Yes, I am not perfect. Yes, there are things I don't get done. But sometimes, when I have a moment to glance and pictures of these sweet smiles and think, someday I will miss this. That helps me make it through the mostly crazy days. Inspired by a blogpost that Chelece sent me that is floating around facebook and the blogosphere. Read it if you haven't :)  Drops of Awesome And I have a new nephew. I am loving that.
