Wise Counsel from our Previous Prophet

I had the wonderful opportunity of hearing Sheri Dew speak in our stake last week. The talk was great and when she was finished everyone was left wanting to hear more. She mentioned this talk by President Hinckley, and after reading through it, I thought I would post it to share. (I posted the second half of the talk, but I also posted a link at the bottom if you would rather read the whole talk on lds.org). The gospel is true and I am lucky to be a part of it. To the Boys and to the Men Gordon B. Hinckley, “To the Boys and to the Men,” Ensign , Nov 1998, 51 I am suggesting that the time has come to get our houses in order. My brethren, it is a tremendous opportunity and an awesome responsibility to speak to you. . . . Now, brethren, I should like to talk to the older men, hoping that there will be some lesson for the younger men as well. I wish to speak to you about temporal matters. As a backdrop for what I wish to say, I read to you a f

Yes, It's true, We Love Food.

Josh and I love food. We love to eat it, and luckily we love cooking it together and trying new things. We especially love Chinese food, Indian food, and Thai food. Recently Josh bought me an Indian cookbook and another Asian cookbook for Valentine's day. So, on Saturday we ventured to Many Lands and bought some things to help us cook some yummy food at home. On Sunday night we cooked and Logan did relatively well being patient while we did so. The results were so good I might not crave Bombay House so often. Chicken Roganjosh Curry, Cucumber Yogurt Dip (Raita), and Paratha (flaky flatbread) We also made a drink, which didn't turn out so well, but we all tried it, even Logan. He liked the bread, but he only had yogurt sauce on rice, the chicken was too spicy. Someday Logan, someday.

He's Almost 2

At the end of January Logan turned 22 months. And it is so hard to believe our little guy is almost 2. He is very busy all the time, and I must admit that communication has made our lives so much better. He loves to line things up, and I find him doing it all over the house with pretty much everything. He likes to read books, he will always say, "How about . . . this one" and "One more". It is amazing that I can read longer books and he doesn't always try to turn pages before I have read the whole page, although, I have to be careful where I put my finger when I am holding the book, because if it is covering up even the tiniest bit of a picture he will move it for me. And for a little while he has even been sitting at the table on a chair, on a phonebook, but no more high chair. He just grows to fast to keep up with. He did this by himself. We finally got him new church clothes. Poor boy, his old pants looked like shorts when he was sitting down. My boys look s
