My Simple Thoughts

A few things are on my mind. I think about experiences concerning young children particularly, because that is what I spend most of my time doing.

First, Elder Ballard's Conference talk on Sunday was just perfect. With every new idea I just kept saying, "He is right on."

(quotes may not be exact I jotted them down from listening)

"There is no one perfect way to be a good mother"

"Each situation is unique. Each has different challenges, skills, and abilities."

"The Joy of motherhood comes in moments. Live in the moment."

"Families need unstructured time for relationships to deepen and where real parenting can take place. Take time to listen, laugh, and play together."

And from an article in this month's Ensign, "The Joy of Nurturing Children".

"Seeing the value of memories has changed my perspective on being a parent. We no longer make messes; we make memories."

The gospel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true. The Lord knows us each individually and what we need and when we need it. I know this, because He is able to reach each person's individual needs through General Conference and other everyday experiences. I hope to incorporate the things I learned and felt and do a little better everyday.

That was my favorite talk (as I'm sure many other mothers just like us agree). It was such a great reminder for me to forget the stresses of everyday life and live in the moment. I feel so blessed to be a mother and I learn so much from my children. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

My dad said he ran into you guys and had to give Josh a rotten day with lots of needle pokes! I wish he could have taken better care of you! :) He mentioned what a darling little boy you have... I agree whole heartedly! Maybe we'll get to see you in person at Valerie's wedding next month? That would be too much fun.

Yup, yup...fantastic talk. I only caught the last few minutes of it (because I was off being a mother...oh, the irony), so I listened to it online the next day. Definitely worth taking the extra time to hear what I'd missed the day before.

Tiff, I even liked that talk. I'm sure you're a great mom...You're teaching your boy to be a great BYU fan. What else is there? OK, besides the gospel? He's cute, by the way. That is one nice looking cake!

I loved Elder Ballard's talk. I loved how he stressed to live in the moment. I'm definitely trying to do that more. Instead of worrying about getting Eli to nap so I can fold the laundry, do the dishes, or what not, I should spend time cuddling with him when he wants to be held, etc. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

A Couple of Updates

I haven't been very involved in the online world very much in the recent months. I haven't been feeling very well. I had mostly rejoined the feeling-better society and getting excited for the ultrasound which we had yesterday on January 15th. Yes, I am Pregnant!!! 20 weeks to be exact and I had gone to 4 doctors appointments and heard the heartbeat several times. Josh and I went to the ultrasound anxious to find out the gender, because we are planners of course. I got situated and the person doing the ultrasound put the wand on my belly and I looked up at the monitor and saw two circles. (I wish we had a picture of that, but we don't have that exact one) In my mind I said, "that is two heads." She said, "Oh, did you guys know you were having twins?" Josh turned, because he had not seen the two heads on the monitor yet and said, "Uh, no". And she said, "Well, you are!" Surprise. A few moments later we found out it was two girls. Wowza.

Josh Had a Birthday, Shout Hooray!

I am so lucky to have these two guys in my life! I hope you had a good birthday yesterday, Josh!

1st Half-Birthday

Logan sits up all by himself now, but he uses his hands like a little tripod for support. He is also able to roll from his back to his stomach, but he really doesn't like his stomach, so he has probably only rolled that way less than 10 times. Mostly when we tease him with toys or other such things. He is really laid back and happy and I just keep thinking I am the luckiest mom in the world! So Logan turned 6 months old on Sunday. The only real "celebration" we had was feeding him cereal for the first time. We did go to the park, but it took us too long to get ready, so on the stroller-ride over he fell asleep. Josh and I had a little picnic anyway. He did go to the Doctor yesterday and Dr. Clayton said he is doing just great. He said Logan is teething, which I thought, but still no teeth have poked up. He got his shots and he doesn't have to get anymore until his is one year! I was, of course, concerned about his weight gain, but Dr. Clayton told me not to w
