This is the stack that Logan built

Too cute for words. Logan loves to find his construction hat and wear it around the house. Logan has always had this fascination with stacking things and he usually stacks all his dishes when he is finished eating. One night during dinner we looked over and this was his creation. Cheesing for the picture.

We saw Big Trucks!

Dear Dad, I just love coming to visit you at work! It was fun to see everybody today and go to the book sale. Mom bought me some fun board books. Mom and I will have to come again when we can stay for lunch and go to J Dawgs. As we were leaving we noticed they were working on the area across the street where they tore down the buildings. It was cool to see the big trucks working, just like in the book we read! They were really big and loud, I liked watching them. I have also decided that walking really is a more convenient way to get around, and although sometimes you and mom make fun of me looking like Frankenstein's monster with my arms out and everything, I really am getting pretty good. I can even stoop and recover. My favorite time of day is when you come home from work. I have so much fun playing and hanging out with you. I get so excited when I hear the door knob turning! I can't wait to see you tonight. I love you! Love, Logan

No

So, Logan is into everything and of course we are trying to keep him safe, and I am still trying to get things done with him around, and I guess he ends up hearing "no" more than he should. He has learned to say the word and when he goes toward something that is something he shouldn't touch, dishwasher, toilet, computer (he knows how to wake up the computer by either clicking on the mouse or hitting a key on the keyboard), etc. he will say "No", so I caught it on video today, and I must say it is pretty funny.

If you want it, Here it is.

Logan always wants whatever we have when we are eating or getting ready to eat, even when he doesn't know what it is. He will put out his hand and say "Uh, uh, uh, uh". So I had a can of Fresca soda and I poured a little in a cup and let him have a sip. His reaction is hilarious! Although, I am not going to make a habit of giving my one year old soda pop. (His favorite word to say is "Hi", he says it in the movie) When I need a few minutes where Logan is slightly confined I will stick him in the walker. The other day I went to put something away and I came back and he decided he was going to try to get out himself! He had one leg all the way out. He thought he was pretty funny!

Logan, Logan, Bo Bogan

It has been awhile since I did a little Logan update. He is doing well, just really busy and doesn't have a lot of time to sit for pictures like he used to. He turned 14 months old last week. I've got a little list of his latest: {1} He head is starting to look pretty banged up with scrapes and bruises. He is becoming quite the little walker-along-furniture, but often misjudges and bumps it on the way down. {2} He stands alone, but plays this game where we say ready, set, go and he stands alone for a few seconds and then purposely falls. {3} He loves to hum! When his toys make music we will find him humming along. He is destined to be a wonderful musician. {4} He loves to lay his head down on blankets and pillows whenever he sees them. {5} He is starting to use a spoon and fork, although sometimes he actually puts the piece of food on the spoon or fork, he is getting fairly good. {6} He has seven teeth, and I think molars are coming really soon, the backs of his gums are p...

One Year Old

He really is an entire year old! It is amazing to look at newborn babies and realize how much Logan has changed in such a short amount of time. He really is fun to be around and we can tell he already has a sense of humor. I have also grown so much in the last year. Becoming a mother is something that no one can explain to you, everyone has such different experiences, and children are so individual and unique! I am glad that Logan, Josh, and I were such a great fit! He belongs in our little family and we are so lucky to have him. Logan's Latest: *The best word to describe Logan lately is Busy . He is constantly on the go. He has to be involved in anything we are doing. He constantly wants to un-do what was just done, mostly just to figure it out. *It is considerably harder recently to take a picture of him, he will never sit still! *He has finally started pulling himself to a stand! He has also become quite the fast ...

Peek-A-Boo

Logan started doing the funniest trick! He will squeeze his eyes shut and then open them! I think he is playing peek-a-boo and he always laughs like it is a fun game. .

It is Officially Time to Baby-proof

Logan has been getting around pretty well, but yesterday he actually started to crawl! He isn't perfect yet, but he is figuring it out! He still combines rolling and scooting with the crawling. I did realize I need to change a few things in the apartment around. Logan leaves a path of destruction throughout the house. Honestly though, I am glad he is crawling! *Pay no attention to the cables or cords in the background of the video*

Curious Logan

Logan is getting around pretty well now. He isn't traditionally crawling, but he scoots backwards, rolls around, and pivots. All these techniques combined allow him to go wherever he wants around the apartment. His favorite spots are shelves, drawers, and anything else that looks mischievous. His loves to find hidden things. I put random things in a box and let him take the items out one by one. He also loves to unload his board books from the bottom shelf. I put them back on and he does it again. In the book I have been reading, it suggested putting items in a drawer in the kitchen and it has been the best thing! Logan is entertained for a long time, while I am in the kitchen. I put in everything that he can play with (those cookie cutters are the perfect thing!). He takes them all out and makes piles on the floor. I put them back in and he begins again.

Rolling, Rolling, Rolling

I came to the realization today that my baby's not a baby anymore. I have known this for awhile, but I think it finally hit me. I have the hardest time with change and he is constantly changing. About a month ago he just up and decided he was done with the pacifier. He hasn't sucked on it since. He will put it in his mouth to chew it, but no sucking. I still get the pacifier when it is time to put him to bed, mostly because it was part of the routine and I just can't let go of it. He feeds himself at part of almost every meal everyday and when I am feeding him from a baby food jar or something he tries to grab onto the spoon to help it come faster and do it himself. He wants to be independent and sometimes I forget that he isn't my tiny little Logan anymore. I also realized that he is going to eventually crawl, but right now his thing is just to roll . . . and roll . . . and roll. He rolls all the way across the room and in circles to get what he wants. When h...

Say Yes, Say No

I'll be honest, it is hard not to absolutely love Logan. He is just so cute! Josh and I are so lucky to have him as our son. He loves the camera and when I started taking pictures of him yesterday, every time I got ready to take his picture and he saw the red light come on he gave me the cheesiest smile. I got some really funny pictures. He has started doing this nasal laugh when he thinks things are funny. Josh and I always end up laughing at Logan when we are trying to make him laugh. He is so fun to play with! He is growing into a little man and he has started paying attention to details. He has really gotten that pincher grasp thing down, which means I am going to have to add vacuuming to my daily list of things to do. He is constantly surveying to find the smallest things to put in his mouth from off the floor. He also loves to mimic and has recently been doing the shaking and nodding his head thing, but we realized that he knows the nodding is yes and shaking is no.

Using the Pincher Grasp

We decided it was about time for Logan to start practicing picking up food on his own, so I bought the Gerber graduate stars (although I still break them in half!) and we have been letting him work on getting them in his mouth. It has been hilarious to watch, and surprisingly he hasn't gotten all that frustrated, but he is getting much better. At first he was still trying to rake them with all his fingers so he would end up with two hands full of little pieces of food and none in his mouth. He is starting to use the pincher grasp, but he still doesn't always let go of the piece of food so he ends up with a very mushy piece clasped in between his thumb and pointer finger. His second little tooth came up a few days ago, and he has started trying to bite with the little teeth. He does get some in his mouth which happens at the very beginning of the video, it always makes him smile! I love watching him develop through every little step of life. He has also started nodding and...

Clap, clap, clap your hands!

Logan is about 7 1/2 months now, and he tends to mimic more and it has been really exciting! I feel like he is starting to communicate with us and he is growing into this little man who has opinions and preferences. I am really lucky, because he is very laid back and is very content most of the time. Don't get me wrong he does cry believe me, although he saves a lot of his crying for home. He always cries when he can tell his baby food is almost gone. He loves to eat pretty much anything we give him. One of my favorite times is just after he wakes up in the morning and after his naps. He wakes up bright-eyed and happy. I come in and say hello and he stretches and smiles. I just love it. He does have a new little trick. He started clapping and I got a clip of him doing it on camera.

Apples to Apples

We got this outfit from some friends several months ago. I have been just waiting to try it on Logan, so I did yesterday and it fits. We almost saved it for some kind of Halloween costume, but decided against it. Logan is such a laid back guy. He is finally on a pretty consistent schedule (Depending on the day :) and eats only 4 times per day. Logan loves to stand. He would rather stand than sit and especially he would rather stand than be on his stomach. I think he can see what's going on better when he is upright. Logan has always liked his feet. Sometimes he just starts chewing on them, like in the picture. I think it is pretty cute, baby feet are still alright, they haven't had the chance to make them smelly--yet. One day, when I was getting ready to drive in the car, I saw this Praying Mantis on the top of our 4 Runner. I have been thinking that since I am the mom of a little boy I need to start paying attention to little-boy things, such as fun little bugs. Log...

1st Half-Birthday

Logan sits up all by himself now, but he uses his hands like a little tripod for support. He is also able to roll from his back to his stomach, but he really doesn't like his stomach, so he has probably only rolled that way less than 10 times. Mostly when we tease him with toys or other such things. He is really laid back and happy and I just keep thinking I am the luckiest mom in the world! So Logan turned 6 months old on Sunday. The only real "celebration" we had was feeding him cereal for the first time. We did go to the park, but it took us too long to get ready, so on the stroller-ride over he fell asleep. Josh and I had a little picnic anyway. He did go to the Doctor yesterday and Dr. Clayton said he is doing just great. He said Logan is teething, which I thought, but still no teeth have poked up. He got his shots and he doesn't have to get anymore until his is one year! I was, of course, concerned about his weight gain, but Dr. Clayton told me not to w...

My little string-bean!

I love the fall, it's my favorite season. I love what I call jacket weather, and sweatshirts are my favorite article of clothing. The weather is starting to change and after almost freezing Logan during our walk on Friday, I got out some of the warmer clothes that he has, and since then I have dressed him in layers. The hardest thing is, I am not quite sure what size he wears. He doesn't really fit into traditional baby sizes. Length-wise, if the outfit has feet, he needs at least 6-9 months (his feet just touch the bottom when he stretches), but his 0-3 months pants and shorts are still a little big around the waist. He's just my skinny little string-bean. Logan has always loved putting things on his limbs. I caught him putting both these toys on himself. One on his arm and one on his leg! Below was another day he tried to put his other toys on his foot. I can already see his little personality coming out.

Bright-eyed Logan!

Josh took this picture of Logan in his car-seat yesterday (7/31/07). Logan really is just the happiest baby. He is laid back like Josh and I and fits very well in our little family. He loves to be around people, especially little kids. He laughs now when you tickle his side or do goofy things. I just have to give a little disclaimer for this picture! I wanted to take a picture of his band-aids from his shots before they fell off, but every time I went to take a picture his eyes got really wide. It was impossible to take a picture without his eyes being as wide as they could go, so I settled for the best one of the bunch. Logan went to see the doctor on Friday 7/27/07 for his 4 month check up. He weighed 13 lbs. even and he was 26 1/4 inches long. He is in the 90th percentile for height and the 25th percentile for weight. Dr. Clayton said that he is doing well. He said it is just fine that he is skinny and it is fine to just keep doing what we are doing. I have been reading and hea...
