Twice the Birthdays!

Well . . . now that it has been a month since their birthday, I guess it is about time to post a few pics! a few decorations . . . My fabulous neighbor Natalie, who is currently doing a giveaway on her blog , made the cupcakes and little birthday cakes. What a lifesaver! It was one less thing I had to worry about and they turned out wonderful. And celebrating with the other side of the family a couple of weeks later! My grandma, the amazing cake decorator, made their cakes for this party!

4 years

Celebrating Logan's birthday is almost as fun as celebrating my own and I love that we get to keep celebrating it this weekend. Logan picked out the girls shirts. And we took him to breakfast. Our little family of 5, it was the first time we have gone out by ourselves, it only took 10 months! These are some recent pictures of Mr. Logan. Tracing his Letters This past year has been a little tough, what with birthing and raising the girls and Logan has been with me every step of the way. Some days I have been tired and grumpy and just plain busy from trying to keep our house running and taking care of the needs of the family. Logan ends up getting the brunt of my grumpiness, which I feel guilty about. We have been playing a game where we use the sheet above and we think of a word for every letter of the alphabet and I write it down. A couple weeks a go he said he wanted to write, so I let him at it. The first word he wrote was CAT, the second one was LOGAN, and the third was MOM. I he...

A Few More of Logan's Birthday

Super cute cousins. Blowing out his candles. Eating, what Logan does best. On his birthday, March 23, Logan had another birthday party here, and I forgot my memory card in my camera, so Michelle was kind enough to give me her pictures (thanks!)

Josh Had a Birthday, Shout Hooray!

I am so lucky to have these two guys in my life! I hope you had a good birthday yesterday, Josh!

Yum . . . Grilled Fish

On my birthday Josh grills fish for me, even though he doesn't like seafood! He even went online and found a great Marinade and prepared it the night before, what a great guy! On Friday Josh planned a fabulous dinner with his family for me which included my favorite things. Grilled fish, a shrimp cocktail, strawberries, pineapple, tossed salad, and angel food cake! The funny thing is no one likes fish in their family but me (and Macquel, my niece, together we enjoyed the shrimp!). On my birthday is the only time I don't feel bad asking for fish. There were also hamburgers for the non-fish lovers. I had a great birthday! I got to go to the park with Logan and Josh took me to lunch and shopping, also what a great guy to endure me trying on clothes! I got my haircut a couple of weeks ago, and I haven't taken very many pictures of it, so this is one is pretty good of the back :) Macquel, Beth, and Ashley having fun with my camera. In the morning Josh gave me this sustain pe...

And of Course, Eating the Cake!

In my family my Grandma always makes fun themed cakes for everyone's birthdays, so I thought it would be fun to make Logan a special cake for his first birthday! Josh and I made the cake together (with some supervision from my parents and some borrowed pans from Josh's parents). We spent a lot of time on it and decided next time we should choose a simpler cake! It was a lot of fun and I love the saying that it is more about the process than the product. I also enjoy working together on projects with Josh! 3.23.08 Josh blew out the candle and Logan just looked at him, I don't think he quite understood the tradition yet! We got the idea from a website I found called Coolest-Birthday-Cakes (which I know my grandma would love), but we decorated the whole cake ourselves. We gave Logan the caboose as his very own cake and I was very surprised that he didn't get as dirty as I thought he would, maybe because I let him get messy 3 times a day when he eats! He picked at the cak...

Easter Egg Hunt

This year was Logan's first official Easter Egg hunt. Although last year he was 2 weeks old, he didn't participate in the hunt. This year I tried to tell him to go get the eggs, his were strewn on the grass, easily accessible, but I don't know how much he understood! He did crawl to many of the eggs and even put a few in the basket, but he was also as interested in twigs and black walnut shells, which I found in the basket after the egg hunt was done.

Opening Presents, First Thing!

March 23, 2008 Logan woke up early, about 6:40 (he usually sleeps until at least 7:15-30). We gave him some breakfast, followed by a bath, and got him all dressed in his Sunday best! Then we gave him his presents! Logan opened his presents from Josh and I bright and early! We kept singing and saying "Happy Birthday" to Logan, but I don't think he ever really understood! He is quite the mover by crawling these days, but once he started opening presents he loved it and sat through all of them. He did really well at opening the presents. He would rip off a little piece and hand the little piece of paper to Josh, then rip off another little piece and hand it to Josh. Opening his presents ended up taking a long time, but it was a lot of fun for all of us. (This was the first time Josh and I had ever celebrated a birthday with our own child :) He was very concentrated as he opened the presents! Yay! His face is so funny in this picture! It looks like he was just posing fo...
